Tucked quietly into a clean white office building on Pacific Coast Highway is the Corona del Mar shop of Engel & Völkers. Christian Völkers, founder and CEO of the firm, hosted the annual Engle & Völkers Polo Cup on July 31-August 1 at his “Son Coll” estate in Mallorca, Spain, from which guests enjoyed the spectacular surroundings, including overlooking vineyards and the Mediterranean. More than 500 employees from the global network attended the event in which the company had a lot to celebrate. The firm achieved in the first half-year of 2015 overall commission revenues of €181.7 ($202.7) million. This represents a 36.5 percent increase in turnover in comparison with the same period the previous year. It also reflects the group’s continuation on its course of growth.

This substantial growth can be attributed to the healthy state of the real estate economy and the strong presence of the brand–particularly in Germany, Spain, Italy, North America and Switzerland.
Christian Völkers is a passionate polo player. He, together with his friend Thomas Winter, Germany’s top polo player, and the E&V Licensee Partner Rackham Schröder, decided to found a professional polo school. The idea was born at the Engel & Völkers Polo Cup on Majorca. Land Rover was quickly won over as a strong partner. At the Polo School, beginners have a chance to discover the fascinating sport, while advanced players can perfect their game and improve their handicap.

Today, a second building has been erected and officially opened in November, 2014. The school has room for a total of 600 students.
