Don’t Miss It!

The 2016 Festival of Arts juried fine art show featuring 140 of Southern California’s top artists will commence July 5th and run through August 31st on the Festival grounds in Laguna Beach. Look for guided art tours, hands-on activities, art workshops, live music, and a variety of special events. The renowned Pageant of the Masters reveals a “Partners” theme this year and runs July 7th through August 31st. The “living pictures” are recreations of works of art with real people posing to look like the original works. Accompanied by a live narrator and orchestra, it is always a captivating evening. Summer Concerts 
in Newport

Summer is coming, and the Newport Beach City Arts Commission has announced the dates for the 2016 Newport Beach Concerts on the Green held on the Civic Center Green in Newport Beach. The dates are July 31 (Hollywood Stones), August 21 (Rumours) and September 11 (The Springsteen Experience). Beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m., it is free to the public. Philharmonic House of Design 
a Must-See

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County is presenting its 24th Annual House of Design in the oceanfront community of The Strand at Headlands in Dana Point from May 24th to June 19th. Fifteen acclaimed interior designers will transform the 8,656 sq. ft. home into a coastal Mediterranean masterpiece. House of Design tickets: $40 general admission/$50 unlimited entry. Premiere Night on May 21st will provide a first peek, along with food, cocktails and entertainment. Proceeds benefit the Philharmonic’s renowned Youth Music Education Programs. Local High School 
Receives National Award

The Woodbridge High School Music Department in Irvine has just been awarded the 2016 National GRAMMY Signature School Award. Chosen from more than 20,000 schools from across the U.S., the school’s vocal and instrumental programs have been recognized for their commitment to excellence in music education. The award comes with a $5,000 check. There are other awards presented, but only one high school receives the honored designation of National GRAMMY Signature School. Congratulations!

Let’s Hear It for Wild & Crazy!

Share Our Selves Wild & Crazy Taco Night is always a hoot, and this year’s 23rd annual soiree at the nonprofit’s digs in Costa Mesa was no exception. With 31 lively chefs and approximately 750 hungry guests, unique tacos were the draw and smiles abounded. The $72,000 net proceeds benefits the SOS Food Pantry, which collects retrievable food from restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, and caterers to distribute to low income and homeless Orange County people. Art, Anyone?

The 52nd Annual Newport Beach Art Exhibition, hosted by the Newport Beach City Arts Commission, is slated for Saturday, June 18th at the Newport Beach Civic Center. The popular affair recognizes the talents and contributions of local and regional artists by hosting a juried art exhibition that gives the community the opportunity to view and purchase the art on display, mingle with the artists and enjoy a festive atmosphere, which also includes music, food and wine.

Heart Ball Honors Newport Beach Community Leader

Peggy Goldwater Clay has been named the first-ever “Sweetheart of the Heart Ball” at the upcoming 35th Annual Orange County Heart Ball, a major benefit for the American Heart Association. Held Friday, June 10, at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, Clay’s honor is a tribute to her legacy of service and commitment to AHA. Her late mother, Peggy Goldwater, wife of late Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater, chaired and presented the first Heart Ball in Phoenix in 1959. For more info, visit HeartBallOC.Heart.org
