Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort’s “Lighting of the Bay”

You may have attended a “tree-lighting” ceremony or two, but what about a “bay-lighting” ceremony? Newport Dunes’ 26th Annual “Lighting of the Bay” showcases the lighting of 50 Christmas trees that float around the bay. The three-day extravaganza kicks off on November 25th with live musical performances, Santa’s arrival and the Lighting of the Bay, followed by the family movie, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The festivities continue the next day with family activities, including a snow slide, snowball toss, train ride, puppet show, and ice exhibit. This unique celebration concludes on November 27th, featuring a very merry Bistro Champagne Brunch Buffet and craft fair.

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at South Coast Plaza

On November 17th, the Segerstrom Family is delighted to host its Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. This year, the magnificent tree, a white fir from Mt. Shasta, will stand at 96 feet tall and will be dressed in 100,000 twinkling lights. Guests can mingle over complimentary refreshments, enjoy an impressive performance by Orange County School of the Arts students, and even meet Santa Claus. Located at Town Center Park, adjacent to The Westin South Coast Plaza, the free, family-friendly event is expected to attract thousands of guests. The enchanting evening is sure to rekindle the holiday spirit within each attendee, no matter how young or old.

Christmas
tree lighting
ceremony at Fashion Island

This November 18th and 19th, there’s no need for shoppers to rush home with their treasures. Going on its 50th year, Fashion Island’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be aglow with one-of-a-kind delights and entertainment. Mark Wallengren, KOST 103.5 FM radio personality, will host the ceremony. Prior to the lighting of the stately, 90-foot Christmas tree, The Young Americans, a professional choir known for incorporating choreography with singing, will perform. To top it all off, a countdown to the lighting of the tree by Santa Claus will take place, followed by a fantastic “snowfall” over the thousands of guests.

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Balboa Bay Resort

Balboa Bay Resort is proud to present a Christmas tree lighting to remember on December 1st. As Newport Beach’s only waterfront resort, this affair is truly one-of-a-kind. The very merry evening will feature the lighting of a magnificent 20-foot Christmas tree, complete with thousands of magical lights and elegant décor. Afterwards, guests are welcome to enjoy delectable holiday treats and beverages, a live theatrical performance, and classic hits by the 70-piece Laguna Concert Band. Rumor has it that Santa Claus himself is to make a jolly appearance, as well. This whimsical event is free to the public, and reservations are not required. Additionally, guests are kindly asked to donate a new, unwrapped gift for the Toys for Tots Program.

Corona del Mar Christmas Walk

If you think “The Walk” is simply another holiday 5k, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. (Though, attendees could potentially walk three miles just meandering around this event.) Undoubtedly, Corona del Mar’s most popular annual event, “The Walk” draws thousands of residents, families, and friends together to enjoy a plethora of unique holiday festivities and vendors. This seasonal extravaganza, to take place in the Village of Corona del Mar this December 4th, includes highlights such as gourmet restaurant tastings, live entertainment with more than 12 signature bands, and a Beer & Wine Garden. As always, the popular Fireman’s Grill BBQ provided by the Newport Beach Fire Department will be included, as well as Santa Claus photo ops, a petting zoo, and more for kids. Thanks to the Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce, all are welcome to experience and participate in the community holiday spirit.

Balboa Island Holiday Home Tour

It’s estimated that more than one million people visit the Balboa area to experience the famed Christmas Boat Parade, and thousands flock to view the Island’s cheerfully decorated homes, known as the Ring of Lights. Amidst this hustle and bustle around the Island, many overlook the hidden gem that is the Balboa Island Holiday Home Tour. Without a doubt, the exteriors of Balboa’s homes are gorgeously decorated for the holiday season, but there’s more to them than meets the eye. This year, the Balboa Island Improvement Association (BIIA) looks forward to presenting the 20th Annual Holiday Home Tour on December 11th. Guests are given the opportunity to walk through the festive, stunning interiors of eight selected homes. This unique event is the main fundraising event for the BIIA, an organization dedicated to fostering Balboa’s community growth, beauty, safety and culture.

Newport Beach Christmas
Boat Parade

Sipping hot chocolate, huddling with loved ones, watching twinkling boats cruise by–surely, this is the most unique way to experience the holidays at home. This year, the 108th Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade will take place on five magical nights, December 14th through the 18th. Hosted by the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, the chosen theme for 2016 is “Seas the Holidays.” Whether it be a multi-million dollar yacht, a simple kayak, or an elegant sailboat, each watercraft in the parade will be decorated to the nines in holiday trimmings. Out of the 200 vessels participating, many also feature festive music, joyous carolers and animated Christmas scenes. Spectators can experience the magical parade in restaurants, public beaches, yacht clubs, or private homes around the harbor. With millions of lights and hundreds of elaborate displays, this dazzling holiday tradition is memorable for all ages.
