Chapman University Selected
for Getty Initiative

The Getty has asked 70 institutions in Southern California to participate in its Pacific Standard Time: Latin American & Latino Art initiative exploring the subject of Latin American and Latino Art in dialogue with Los Angeles this fall, and Chapman is one of four institutions in Orange County participating. Exhibits on and around the campus are showcasing a variety of art created by Latino and Latina artists. A mural painted in 1979 by local artist Emigdio Vasquez is a springboard for other themes. Higgy Vasquez, Emigdio’s son, is painting a mural centered on Chapman University history. Other locations on campus showcasing a variety of media are The Guggenheim Gallery and the Argyros Forum Henley Galleria. The exhibit runs through January 5, 2018.
