The New Golden Age of Latin Music
Segerstrom Center for the Arts is presenting two of today’s most exciting Latin bands at globalFEST On the Road – The New Olden Age of Latin Music at Samueli Theater on March 10. Alternative Chicano band Las Cafeteras recreates traditional Afro-Caribbean Son Jarocho music in a wildly vibrant style, while Latin Grammy nominee Flor de Toloache made New York City history as its first and only all-women Mariachi group, founded in 2008. The two bands, created here in the U.S., are hotbeds of musical activity, blending styles that reflect cultural identities between Mexico and the United States.
