The Garden’s Casino is the closest destination to home

There’s a new place to hang out and have some fun in Orange County. The Gardens Casino, located in Hawaiian Gardens, is only a 25-minute drive away and offers a great deal of entertainment options. They include a weekly filming of Poker Night Live (airing on CBS Sports Network on Tuesday and Friday evenings), a VIP lounge with reclining chairs, giant television screens, and a shower where VIP players can recharge during marathon card sessions.

The beautiful two-story casino stands in the place of an old tent-like structure opened over 20 years ago. With a total renovation investment of $90 million in 2016, the 200,000-square-foot pristine building houses 225 tables, restaurant, lively bar, VIP lounge, and two very impressive multi-use halls.

The Casino’s spectacular foyer has a huge stone fountain with golden porpoises leaping up out of its middle and a view straight into the new Triple 7 Sports Bar and Restaurant. The wooden ceiling is accented by gorgeous beams, beautiful chandeliers and tropical plants, completing a Hawaiian theme.

The place not only sparkles new and smoke-free, but has a great ambiance provided by the buzz of 1,000+ players and a staff of over 1,850 workers. The 220 flat-screen televisions in the facility are a boon for any sports-lover, and there are 14 different games available, including poker, blackjack and baccarat.

On Tuesday nights, clients can enjoy fine wine and delicious appetizers in the VIP area while watching the filming of the Poker Night Live show broadcast on CBS Sports. Tuesday attendees have a chance to rub elbows with top celebrities and poker players. The show’s Producer, Todd Anderson, created the format which brings together celebrities with the best poker players in the world for some casual conversation and poker. The show’s ratings have been so high that CBS Sports is re-airing the show on Friday nights. Part of Anderson’s genius was choosing Joe “Stapes” Stapleton, an American poker commentator and comedian, to host the show while playing with the celebrities. Stapes’ quick wit and brand of self-deprecating humor fits perfectly with the show’s casual format and infuses life into the two-hour game.

Some of the celebrities who have played include Academy Award-winning producers John Landau and Grant Heslov. Landau is best known for producing Titanic and Avatar, and Heslov for Argo and Catch Me If You Can. Some of the world’s top poker players have also been on the show, including Phil Helmuth, winner of 16 World Series of Poker bracelets,??? and Maria Ho, the top-ranked female poker player in the world.

For Newport Beach residents and gaming enthusiasts, the Gardens Casino is the closest destination to home. The largest card room in California does not disappoint. One of the great things about being a VIP at The Gardens is that you might have the chance to play for a while with one of your favorite celebrities or an Academy Award-winning producer like John Landau.
