Whether enjoying the 2018 Vans US Open of Surfing competition in Huntington Beach, the world-renowned Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach or celebrating our nation’s founding on July 4th through planned events at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina or watching for participating in the Newport Beach Yacht Club’s “Old Glory” Boat Parade, you will be entertained.
Festival of Arts – July 5 – September 1 | Pageant of the Masters – July 7 – September 1
The 86th Annual Festival of Arts Fine Art Show, the longest-running outdoor fine art exhibition, features the original artwork by 140 award-winning artists in Laguna Beach. There are art-related attractions and special events, including jazz concerts, wine and chocolate pairings, guided art tours and workshops, Art & Story Time for children, and, new this year, Tribute Tuesdays, highlighting well-known tribute bands.
The 85th Annual Pageant of the Masters’ world-famous theatrical celebration of great art on the Festival of Arts grounds is like none other. Watch real people be magically transformed into life-sized re-creations of famous works of art as a live narrator guides you through the story and a live orchestra accompanies each “living picture.” The theme is “Under the Sun.”

2018 Vans US Open of Surfing – July 28 – August 5
Huntington City Beach is the place to be if you like surfing at this year’s Vans US Open of Surfing competition. The nine-day celebration of surfing and surf culture features more than 300 world class athletes???. The top surfers in the world compete in the competition, along with skateboarding and BMX at the beach. The family-friendly event features sponsor exhibits on the sand, free outdoor movie showings, art installations, more than 20 sponsors, retail stores, athlete meet-and-greets and/or autograph sessions and musical acts. The event is free to the public and goes from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

2018 Newport Harbor “Old Glory” Boat Parade, “Valor-Through the Generations” – July 4
July 4th in Newport Beach wouldn’t be complete without the Newport Harbor “Old Glory” Boat Parade. Begun in the 1950s as the “Character Boat Parade,” today, the boat parade is one of California’s largest and longest-running patriotic boat parades and is sponsored by the American Legion Yacht Club.
All boaters are invited to decorate their vessels and participate in the parade. This year’s lead boat, M/V Valor, will pull away from the start at 1 p.m. off Collins Island, on the west end of Balboa Island, and follow a course throughout Newport Harbor. Participants complete for class awards, such as “Best Decorated,” “Outstanding Music,” “Finest Costumes,” Most Creative,” and the “Commodore’s Award,” with winners announced at the awards banquet on Sunday, July 22 at 7 p.m. WHERE???

Fourth of July at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina
Family-friendly fun awaits at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina on July 4th. Activities and entertainment awaits both on the beach and in the water.
The doubled-in-size Inflatable Waterpark opens at 10 a.m. and now has a section dedicated to smaller children. Kids can also have fun in the swimming lagoon with Moe B, the park’s huge whale. Rentals are available for pedal boats, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, hydro bikes, 18-foot Duffy Electric Boats, and cabanas.
Doors open at 2 pm. for live entertainment featuring Host??? & DJ David Bugenske with three bands – Skynyrd Reloaded, Redneck Rodeo and the big headliner, Wild Child. BBQ and food trucks are available and Back Bay Bistro will host a special buffet.
At 9 p.m., the City of Newport Beach hosts its annual fireworks show.
